| (LIVE) PUBLIC HEARING, COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE JUDICIARY, Phil Mendelson, Chairperson | Agenda items:
1. "Domestic Partnership Police and Fire Amendment Act of 2008", Bill 17-0726. To amend the District of Columbia Spouse Equity Act to give domestic partners equity in retirement benefits; and to amend the Policemen and Firemen's Retirement and Disability Act to include domestic partners as survivors for the purposes of police and fire retirements.
2. "Domestic Partnership Judicial Determination of Parentage Act of 2008", Bill 17-0727. To amend Title 16 of the District of Columbia Official Code to include domestic partners as parents of children born in the District of Columbia; to amend the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act of 1995 to include domestic partners within coverage of the act; and to amend the Vital Records Act of 1981 to allow domestic partners to be included on birth certificates.
3. "Retired Police Annuity Amendment Act of 2008", Bill 17-0743. To amend the District of Columbia Police and Firefighter's Retirement and Disability Act to provide that the annuity of a retired member of the Metropolitan Police Department who dies during a particular month shall be due and payable to the date of death of the member. |
